Exhaustion

Do you feel like you're about to run straight into a wall? Or maybe you're already there?
It is not uncommon that when you approach an exhaustion, what was previously called burnout, almost accelerates your everyday life. You're doing even more. In your subconscious mind, you know that the energy will soon be completely exhausted and you therefore need to "finish" and prepare everything that goes before you crash.

Perhaps you're one of those people who didn't notice anything until one day you didn't get out of bed anymore or suddenly didn't know how to get home from work.

The road back to life

The road back from exhaustion can be long and bumpy. It is certainly filled with many emotions,symptoms and fears. The most important thing is that you know about and trust that you can get well. If you have so much power, drive and will that you have managed to push yourself so far that you have fallen into exhaustion, you are strong enough to get back. Perhaps the hardest thing is to allow yourself to be sick and to rest for a long time. It's probably not your strongest side. The recovery you have needed regularly for a long time, you now have to give yourself at once. Slowly but surely, you can then start to unravel and understand. Understand why you have ended up in the situation you are in and what you need to regain your power and zest for life.

Building trust in yourself

Trust in yourself will be rebuilt over time. Probably for a long time, perhaps most of your life, you have ignored your body's signals. It has signalled higher and higher but you have continued to drive on. Or you simply don't understand. The joints have started to hurt, you have got IBS, the migraine is worse and comes more often. You get sick all the time, you are easily irritated and are close to crying. You sleep less or more than usual. You prioritize the fun in life or you don't enjoy it. You're waving away and driving – you don't have time to be sick. Until you're there. Your body doesn't trust you to listen when it signals. That's why it's screaming for the smallest thing. The more you start listening, the more it lowers your voice. You become friends again and work together.

Self-esteem and living happily

With exhaustion comes often existential questions about the meaning of life. How do you live to be happy and what makes you happy? Perhaps your self-esteem is completely frameable because it was not a true self-esteem but a performance-based one. As long as you proved to yourself and others that you were performing, you had value. But now that your body has stopped and you can no longer perform, what are you worth?

The answer, of course, is that you are worth everything. You are the most important one there is. You just have to understand it yourself, love comes from within.
